The Age of Garrick: Personalities, Places, and Plays
This sequence from A.M.Broadley’s extra-illustrated copy of Percy Fitzgerald’s biography of the actor-manager (see case 9) includes prints of people, places, and theatrical events that receive only passing mention in the book. The five pages of text discuss financial dealings between Garrick and John Rich, his co-owner of Drury Lane Theatre, with short references to other figures involved in financial, theatrical, and amorous affairs. Between them are inserted eight items, including two large prints folded over several times, a manuscript letter, and two topographical prints, before — at last — a print showing David Garrick himself.
